I am Alice Bacou, activist, reporter, seafarer, empath, photographer, videographer and writer of every kinds but mostly poetry.

My journey into photography began unexpectedly, amidst the quiet observation of birds as a young enthusiast. What started as a means to recognize different species soon blossomed into an innate passion for capturing moments frozen in time. I felt an irresistible urge to wield a camera wherever I roamed, a compulsion that led to the misplacement of my first compact camera at the tender age of 14, lost amidst the towering peaks of the mountains, but not without leaving behind a trove of cherished family memories.

I was fortunate to be raised against a backdrop rich in curiosity and exploration. Endless travels instilled in me a desire to chronicle the world around me, a visual narrative intended to offer others a glimpse through my lens.
Despite my early fascination with photography, I yearned to explore various avenues of expression. While I harbor a hint of regret for not delving deeper into theater, I discovered solace in the creation of an enchanting world within my mind—a space where poetry and art intertwine seamlessly.

For the longest time, I remained a timid observer, content to dwell in the shadows, like a mouse, rather than confront the essence of my true self. Instead, I sought solace in traversing the world—a nomad devoid of identity yet present in every corner. Today, I cautiously unveil slivers of my being—sketches, photographs, writings—only a fraction of the vast reservoir within. Taming a mouse takes patience, after all.

One night, amid the pulsating energy of Berlin, I found myself on stage, trembling yet exhilarated, as I shared my poetry with a captive audience. It was a defining moment—a leap from the confines of my comfort zone into the boundless expanse of self-discovery.
Throughout my youth, I gravitated toward discomfort, seeking refuge in the unfamiliar. From boarding school at 16 to traversing distant lands at 18, my journey has been one of perpetual motion—an odyssey from one life to the next, each transition accompanied by its own blend of uncertainty and growth.

In the artistic pursuits, I discovered beauty in imperfection—the raw, unfiltered essence of existence. Through the innocence of childlike drawings, the unapologetic cadence of personal verse, and the nuanced gaze of my lens, I endeavor to unearth the extraordinary in the mundane. For me, beauty resides in the subtle interplay of light on water, the weariness etched upon weathered faces, the intricate dance of insects against a windowpane, and the haunting allure of forgotten spaces.

In each stroke of the pen, each click of the shutter, I find fragments of myself—a journey of self-discovery woven into the very fabric of creation.
